Bob Peak Exhibit Opens at Gallery Nucleus June 6

6.04.2009

Gallery Nucleus hosts a well-deserved retrospective exhibit of the art of Bob Peak, the "father of the modern Hollywood poster." His most famous posters include Apocalypse Now, My Fair Lady, Star Trek (the motion picture), and many more. In the 80s, the US Postal Service commissioned him for the Los Angeles Olympics stamps illustrations. Like some of his predecessors, such as Coby Whitmore and Robert McGinnis, his art graced magazines (tens of covers for TV Guide and Time) and books, but Peak made his mark by crystallizing the concepts of movies and creating elaborate montage-compositions combining striking portrayals of actor-character, exciting scenic vignettes, and sophisticated lighting effects. The exhibit opens Saturday June 6 at 7pm and runs until June 25th (map).
